House committee approves $25bn increase to military budget

Situation
The real total’s $23.9 billion but no one cares if you say $25 billion. Vote count was 42-17. All Republicans voted for it plus 14 Democrats.
Analysis
More Democrats voted against the amendment than I expected, which is good. Still, 14 Dems on the House Armed Services Committee voted with the Republicans, which is bad. The entire House will vote on the bill that this amendment amends (the NDAA) later in September.
Here’s a look at those 14 Democrat committee members and how much money they’ve received from military contractors last election cycle and so far in this one.
